Ekanor Falan Nalinuk arrived at the Imperial Army barracks at Kast Foramyva, the capital of Helmarie province in the early afternoon on horseback. He was accompanied by seven other officers and twenty armed guards.
"Open the gates!" cried out Gurikan Gamuk, one of Nalinuk's officers.
"Who goes there?" demanded one of the guards. It was a routine formality, but the guard seemed to take it too seriously. Ekanor Falan Nalinuk liked the sound of that. Perhaps these soldiers took things seriously after all. He had been told that discipline here was lax. Especially since the officers here had allowed a civilian politician to replace them.
Gurikan Gamuk cried out, "Ekanor Falan Nalinuk has come to take command of the provincial garrison! Open the gates!"
The guards opened the gates and Ekanor Falan Nalinuk rode in, proudly surveying the headquarters of his new command. He knew that his command was one of the more difficult provinces with a vast land area, a dangerous separatist movement and a difficult frontier to monitor. But he had command of 5 kantoro for the job and had brought his own hand picked officers to take command of each of those kantoro, plus a second in command and a quartermaster.
Ekanor Falan Nalinuk noticed the tense expressions on the faces of the soldiers. They were wondering what to expect of their new commander, he figured.
Two of the local soldiers led Nalinuk and his men to the stables where they dismounted and began to remove their horses' saddles. Just then, a group of about a hundred soldiers marched past the stables in full armor and carrying their weapons.
"Looks like this garrison is a little more combat ready than most, eh, Gamuk?" Ekanor Falan Nalinuk said, "I'll put you in command of the best kantora of the bunch as soon as I determine which one that is."
A local officer at the head of the marching troops gave an order and the men turned as if on a parade ground to face their new commander. On another order, they lowered their spears, pointing them in the direction of Nalinuk and his entourage.
The officer then looked right at Ekanor Falan Nalinuk and shouted out, "It is my duty to instruct you to lay down your arms and surrender."
"Surrender? I'm your new commander," Nalinuk said, laughing.
More troops were now running into view, at least two hundred more.
"Nonetheless, sir, you and your men must put down your weapons or we will have no choice but to capture you by force of arms."
"What is your rank, soldier?" Nalinuk demanded angrily.
"Gurikan, sir, but I am acting on orders."
"Whose orders!"
"We'll discuss it when you have surrendered. Put down your weapons."
Gurikan Gamuk drew his sword and stood in front of Ekanor Falan Nalinuk to protect him. The other officers and the guards also drew weapons and crowded around, but they were vastly outnumbered and their backs were against the stable so they were trapped.
"I am an Ekanor Falan, (Lieutenant General) you idiot! "
"I know, sir. This is your final warning. Surrender or you will be killed."
As he spoke, the two hundred or so troops that were approaching at a run arrived.
"You men, I am Ekanor Falan Nalinuk, any man who makes further threats against me or so much as disobeys an order shall be guilty of mutiny and sentenced to death by slow torture. Now make way."
Nalinuk boldly took three steps towards the troops, expecting them to make way for him, but they didn't. He stopped only when a spear point blocked his further advance.
It was clear from the reaction of the troops that they were there to help capture Nalinuk, not to help him or to take orders from him.
"Seize him!" the mutinous Gurikan ordered and the men did so. Gurikan Gamuk attempted to save him, but his sword rang off a shield and he was struck by two spear points and knocked to the ground. His armor saved him from serious injury.
The other officers and guards did not dare to resist. Their guards began to put down their weapons. Nalinuk began shouting insults at the mutineers. They tied his hands.
Soon all of the new arrivals had been captured, disarmed and bound. They were then taken to another part of the barracks, away out of sight.

I declare That we as a sovereign people will not be oppressed by this empire. We have as much of a right to be free as the next person. And We must find as many allies as we can to join us in the fight for independence. I hearby Declare Helmarie an independent Nation. And no amount of Imperial law will change that.

Ulor's Palace Free Nation of Helmarie
5/1/41 Cledman VI
Esinie paced the halls of the palace deep in thought. His thoughts were on the current situation and how he would win against the zekresh when the war comes to him, when the civil war has ended and the heir to the throne was decided, weather it was by sword or speechs, he knew that when it ended it will end in the blood of many Tronds and aats alike.
"We must stop this fate!" He said lightly as he continued pacing the halls deep in thought, his thoughts then turned to his rule and the chieftains and the taxs which were levied on the people.
"And how will I appease the people and manage a defense against the zekresh without the money? But then again the taxs are evil and cause suffering." He said lightly again trying to think of ways to solve this conuondrum.
"Maybe the taxes dont have to be involuntary? Maybe it could be a support fund something to pay for food and supplies to the army, and I could say that by payng for it you would be protecting your home and country. Hmm that may be the solution?" He said louder with new hope that this country may survive after all.
"Gurok! Get me the commander I need to speak with him on the matters of the garrison. Oh and gurok I will need the budget." He said as he returned to the main room of the palace.

"You wanted to speak to me, Ulor?" he says as he enters the Ulor's office.

"Yes I wanted to consult you on hiring hunters to be archers in the army." He said to the garrison commander as he paced the room giving him but a glance while he spoke.
"And on attacking an imperial garrison. I would like the men to mobilize and for you to send the troops to the garrison in Glantogran province to attack the garrison there." Esinie said as he looked over at the garrison comander.
"And please know that the Aats will be also helping us in this battle." esinie said to the commander.

Ekanor Falan Andien says, "That is important news. War with the Red Hand. Can we be sure the Aats will be with us this time? I suggest we leave at least one kantora behind to guard Kast Foramyva."

"War with the red hand. No I think it would be better to destroy the garrison there and free our alies after that. I hate the Red hands for what they did as much as any trond perhaps even more so since they still back the Zekresh, but if we show that now we have the allies armies and have cleansed them of Zekresh they will not want to fight us or if they did it would end in there loss." Esinie said to Andien sternly as thoughts through his mind raced on what will the Red hand do should the Imperial garrison be defeated?
"We should leave our bitter history with the Red hand for now! And yes I am sure the Aats will fight on our side this time." Esinie said with a grin on how the tides have turned.
"Yes I think that would be good to leave one Kantora in the capital. Hmmmm I think it should be renamed after all the capital is named after a Zekresh army commander." Esinie said pondering his actions.

Ekanor Falan Andien says, "Good. I'll order the 5th Kantora Helmarie to remain behind and guard Kast Foramyva. And you're right, by the way, the town should be renamed. But what would we name it, Trondhaven?"
(OOC: In the Trondan language, Trondhaven means "Trond town" or "Giants' Town".)

"No the Capital is an excellent trade point. And there fore most of the foreign population lives in or around the town. It should be renamed somthing involving trade and the river."Esinei said to the Garrison commander deep in thought, as he paced the room and sandals clacked along.

Ekanor Falan Andien says, "I could see it being called Herigahaven ("Tradetown" in Trondan) or Narvahaven ("Rivertown" in Trondan), but how could you combine the two without it being too long? Would we call it Narvaherigahaven? ("Rivertradetown")

"Hmmm I like the idea of Herigahaven.... That will be the name." Esinie said to the garrison commander with thoughts of how maybe just maybe the Free Nation of Helmarie might survive this conflict.

Ulor Esinie issues the following decree
"This will be the last decree I make but it will be so that the town that was once known as Kast Foranyva shall be renamed Herigahaven. So that we might forget what the Zekresh did and their Ulors and we might have our breath of freedom."
Back at the Palace.
"Onasie I would like to speak with the chieftains could you help me arrange to meet some if not all of them?" Esinie said to Onasie as he walked into the main room.

Onasie says, "That's not possible, but I could probably arrange it pretty quickly."
