Aboard the ship "Shoolen Divi" In the Lish Folonesh (Western Sea) fifth day out from the port of Osim
Oron 12, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
On the fifth day at sea, there is still no land in sight in any direction, but there is something to see.
Dolphins are swimming beside the ship and at times racing up alongside the ship to the bow and then leaping into the air. Many of the soldiers come rushing up on deck to see the spectacle. The dolphins keep at it for about half a foss. It seems to Nemt that afterwards, morale of the troops is improved. Some of them take it as a good omen.

Salganit grants us her favor. Let us hope Noddan is as generous.
(OOC: Are any of the other ships within sight from the Shoolen Divi?)

(OOC: At the moment, you can see seven other ships from the Shoolen Divi. The others may be obscured by the sails of those seven. On one of the nearest ships, you can clearly see Ekanor Garon standing near the bow. You can also see the ship Ekanor Arno is on, but you can't tell if he's one of the men on deck because they are too far away. You do notice a dolphin jumping in front of one of the other ships.)

(OOC: Interesting, I really enjoy how realistic the naval aspects of NAE are.)

(OOC: Sorry for the delay, but we don't want you to arrive until the other players are up to the date you will arrive. Otherwise it might get complicated. There isn't much to do on the ship, but there are some things you could do. You could talk to people who are on your ship, for example. Most of them are your soldiers, a few are crew members who don't speak Zekresh. The captain barely speaks Zekresh. So options are limited, but hopefully it won't be much longer. In fact, we'll let another day go by now. The main delay is that a certain player who plays only by e-mail takes a while to respond and he is critical to the action going on at the moment.)

(OOC: Got it, wasn't sure what was going on - I was a little confused about how time passes, as originally it was moving along at weeks in the game for every real day, and now it seems to almost be flipped.)

(OOC: The rate at which time passes varies depending on what's going on. As you have undoubtedly noticed, not all players are on the same day at the same time. This is because some players want to have lengthy conversations with subordinates involving multiple posts that take days of real time. To avoid holding back all players any time anyone wants to have a conversation, we allow some players to go farther ahead in time, but only by enough that there is no time for inconsistencies. The farther apart the players are, the more leeway we have. For exaple, if you are on the 1st day of the 1st month and Kortelan is on the 7th day of the 1st month, we don't have to worry about you doing something that would affect him on a day he's already past because if you're in Kopixer and he's in Kajakan Tros, no matter what you do, news of it cannot reach him in just six days.
The closer you are to the other characters and the more likely your actions are to affect them, the more we must keep the dates close together. News of the arrival of your unit anywhere on the North Peninsula, or even the sighting of your ships is likely to travel via Imperial Courier Relay to all other players in the North Peninsula within one or two days. Some will learn of it within hours. More importantly, as soon as you land, you're probably going to want to know what the military situation is, but we simply can't tell you because we don't know how the Battle of Angenmar Paven will go between the latest date that's been played in that battle (3/1/41) and the date you are expected to land which is quite some time after that. Also, other battles may or may not be in progress by then. We don't even know whether Krulmuk will be in Zekran when you get there. If he is, he will probably want to meet with you immediately. This is the reason your arrival must be delayed in real time until the game time of the main action in the North Peninsula matches your arrival date.
As you may have noticed, we try to keep the most important action at an earlier date than other players. For example, the date in Nassavix and other outlying areas is usually deliberately further advanced than in Angenmar Paven. The reason for this is so that when the players there read the forums about what is happening in Angenmar Paven and Zekran, that they are already at a point in time where their characters would hear about it and we don't put them in a position of having to role play as if they don't know things that they do in fact know. Instead, they can react immediately to events they read about on the forums because their characters do already know. The way things are going in the north, this will have to stop and may even have to be reversed.
We try to manage the flow of time so that there are minimal gaps in the action for everyone and people don't get stuck, as you and Kortelan are now, waiting for another player to do something so time can pass for you. In case we haven't made it clear, the main reason it is taking so much real time for you to cross the sea is because the action in Angenmar Paven is moving at the pace that Tremalkan plays by e-mail which is slower than the forum players.)

(OOC: Thanks for clearing that up. I'm kind of surprised he's taking so long, even just playing by email. I remember being pretty eager to read/reply to any game messages before the forums were around. Is it possible he's gone? Or just very busy...)

(OOC: Well, fear not, we aren't going to wait on him forever. Another day passes. As you'll recall Srenger said he expected to reach the Gateway Waters in one velasik, that is, nine days.)
Aboard the ship "Shoolen Divi" In the Lish Folonesh (Western Sea) seventh day out from the port of Osim
Oron 14, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
On the seventh day at sea, something happens. A ship is sighted approaching the convoy from the northeast.
Bored soldiers and sailors line the railing of the ship to see it. It appears to be a civilian freighter. It passes by and then is obscured by the sails of the other ships. At times Nemt can catch sight of it until it is a speck on the southwestern horizon. Then it's gone.
Later, as dusk approaches, bored soldiers are up on deck playing a gambling game involving trying to toss pebbles accurately enough from a short distance to hit other pebbles, including those thrown by the other players.
Some of the soldiers remark jokingly that they should have brought frogs instead of pebbles.
Ulor Nemt does not know the details, but he is aware that there is a bizarre Imperial Army regulation that bans soldiers from possessing frogs and prescribes a penalty of two lashes per frog for any soldier caught having any frog or toad, alive or dead, for any reason.
The new officers used to joke about it when they were learning the Imperial Army regulations, but none of them knew why the regulation existed.

Aboard the ship "Shoolen Divi" In the Lish Folonesh (Western Sea) eighth day out from the port of Osim
Oron 15, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
The next day, another freighter is seen. Also, a fight breaks out between two of the soldiers. The men are restless, bored and increasingly desperate to be on dry land again or at least to see land.
