Starmet Uloresh (Governor's Palace) Kast Vinrat (Frontier Fortress) Salan Vinrat Troslot (Old North Frontier Province)
Oron 9, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
Despite the name, Kast Vinrat was no longer on the frontier and had not been for centuries. Nor was it primarily a fortress, though the old fortress was still there. The frontier had moved further north and the province had long since been renamed Old North Frontier Province instead of just North Frontier Province. There was now a New North Frontier Province (Salan Vinrat Trosazh), but that was no longer the frontier either. The border had long since moved on to Salan Zurithani (Wildmen Province) and Salan Zurian (Wilderness Province).
But the name had stuck. Today, Kast Vinrat was the name of the town that had grown up around the original frontier fortress. The town was the capital of Salan Vinrat Troslot.
There had been rumors for days that an army was approaching from the North. There had also been rumors that a civil war was brewing and that fighting had already started in Angenmar Paven.
That news hit Ekanor Falan Keligan especially hard since he was from Angenmar Paven.
Ekanor Falan Keligan had assembled all four kantoro of the Vinrat Troslot garrison in the capital. They were only at about half strength, but even so, his force numbered over 2,000 men. The reports he had gotten from travelers indicated that the approaching force was as large or larger than his entire garrison.

Eventually, the column of marching men came into sight. Returning scouts estimated the size of the force at 2,200 men. An exact count of the Vinrat Troslot garrison had come up with 2,012. The approaching force was also better equipped.
The column from the North stopped at the entrance to the city when they saw that it was guarded. The man at the head of the column identified himself as Gurikan Balek, commander of the 4th Kantora Zekresh and asked to speak to the garrison commander.
When Ekanor Falan Keligan appeared, introduced himself, and asked why 2,000 soldiers were marching into his province, Gurikan Balek said, "We are the 4th, 5th and 6th Kantoro Zekresh. We have come from battling the Tavani barbarians in Salan Zurian. Now we have orders to march to Bakoyost (Eastport).
Ekanor Falan Keligan paused. He had also received orders to proceed to the "assembly point" at Bakoyost. His orders said that Ekanor Falan Tanathandrum, the garrison commander of Flitran was to assume command of all assembled forces there unless Ekanor Falan Gevan had arrived from Zekran and assumed command. If Gevan were not there and Tanathandrum refused to lead the forces in an advance on the enemy, the orders from Gurikan Falanorata Krulmuk said that Ekanor Falan Keligan himself was to assume command of all forces at Bakoyost and march to Kast Yvar.
Keligan had hesitated for some time about obeying the order. It would commit him to one side in the civil war that already seemed to have started. He was not sure which side he wanted to be on, but he knew that he'd rather be marching to Angenmar Paven. On the other hand, there was a road from Kast Yvar to Angenmar Paven. Perhaps that was where Krulmuk would order him to go.
Keligan knew that with these troops here, all of them from the Zekran garrison and doubtlessly loyal to Krulmuk, his time for delaying a decision was over. He must either fight them or march with them to Bakoyost with his garrison.

ooc - sorry for the delay.
I inform Balek that I am above him in rank an that I have orders to assume command of his troops and lead them to Bakoyost and to take command of all forces at Bakoyost if certain other officers do not.
I order my own troops to prepare to march. If Balek accepts my authority, I allow his men into the city and provide them with food and water.

Balek accepts Ekanor Falan Keligan's authority and he and his troops enter the city.
By the next day, all the troops are ready to march.
