(OOC: This thread begins by continuing the action played out in the Angenmar Paven thread at the link below. The rest of this message reposts the portion of the action from the previous topic which takes place in Verronia.) www.naegame.proboards83.com/index.cgi?board=northpeninsula&action=display&thread=1177333998&page=12After a bit more marching, the column comes to the great bridge over the Kajak River. It is one of the greatest engineering triumphs of the empire and it was built almost entirely by Verronese skill and labor. It is unguarded except by a few tariff takers, who stand aside for the marching soldiers. Now Kortelan beholds the great city of Verronia. It is one of the largest cities in the Empire with a population in the tens of thousands. In addition to being the cultural capital of the Verronese, it is also the leading financial center in the empire, the site of a huge Imperial Navy base, vast military and civilian shipyards, and probably the largest most active marketplace in the known world attracting merchants from every nation. In addition to these attractions, it also has a garrison fortress so large and stout that it rivals even Kast Yvar. To this edifice Kortelan and his men turn their eyes as they cross the bridge. There are sentinels on the towers of the fortress who undoubtedly have seen their approach. Kortelan looks at An Op and the other two commanders, "Lets go forward and greet these sentinels. This will be our first real testing." He looks to An Op for a second before continuing "I mean no offense An Op but with the orders, or lack there of, that you had Angenmar Paven was not that big of a fight." After that he rode towards the gates slowly showing he was coming in peace. Once within hailing range he yelled up to the sentinels. "Hail, I am Kortelan Ulor of both Kajakan Tros and Kajakan Folon. The three men you see behind me are Ersolan, leader of my personal guard, Lorgan of the Verron Rond, leader of a cavalry division, and An Op, leader of the garrison at Angenmar Paven. I wish to speak to your Ulor to make sure that the troop movements to Yishil go smoothly."

An officer is there on the walls. He says, "Ulor Ziyan is not here. He might be in the palace, but he is not in command of the troops here. Ekanor Falan Yervin is in command. He is the one to talk to about military matters."

"Well that is good. I need to talk to him as well. Will you please get him to set up a meeting. Tell him it is of the utmost importance and the Empire may just hold in the balance of what happens at this meeting."

The soldiers say they will inform their commander of your request.
(OOC: Now we're just waiting for Ziyan to respond to the e-mail he was sent.)

(ooc: It is our policy to neither confirm nor deny whether any particular character is a player character or a non-player character. We have made too many exceptions to this rule already. The fact that it was already revealed that Ziyan is a player is the only reason that was mentioned. So far as I know, we have never indicated whether Ekanor Falan Yervin is a player or not and we would prefer not to do so now.)

After a long delay, Ekanor Falan Yervin appears on the wall of the fortress above the gate. He invites Ulor Kortelan to enter for a meeting or to speak from where he is if he would rather not enter.

"I would prefer to stay down here. Will you come out or will you stay there? I have orders from the Imperial Regent and I am to make sure Verronia follows them and accompanies An Op on his travels."

Ekanor Falan Yervin looks annoyed and says, "We can talk from here if you wish. I have my own orders from the regent and they do not say anything about going with An Op. My orders are to wait here until another officer comes to take command, then I am to hand over command of the garrison to him. I don't like it, but that's what I'll do if he ever gets here."

Kortelan rolls his eyes. "And this is the officers you are looking for. I am also needing to talk to the Ulor. Your men are now under An Op's command and if you wish you can go with them and see what Rubanya will let you do command wise. So open your gates, and have your men ready to march with in half an hour and I will go arrange a meeting with the Ulor."

Yervin says, "I have known Ekanor Falan An Op for years, but he is not the man I was commanded to hand over the garrison to. I don't think it is you, either. I am told you are Ulor Kortelan. The man I have been ordered to give command to is not an Ulor. He is an officer named Ersolan."
Ersolan immediately steps forward and says loudly, "I am Ersolan."
One of the sentinels whispers something to Ekanor Falan Yervin and Yervin nods. Yervin says, "I am suspicious of this turn of events, but I have just been told by my sentinel that your name was mentioned when you first arrived but my sentinels did not realize you were important enough to mention to me. Ersolan, if you really are Ersolan, come inside the fortress alone and let us talk."
The gate is opened and the iron portcullis is partly raised.
Ersolan looks to Kortelan, "Shall I enter, your excellency? I may be able to take command of the garrison and resolve this matter quickly."

Kortelan nods "Yes but take 10 of your best men. Just incase." He looks up at Yervin "He will come but he is going to be taking some body guards.'

Yervin says, "A few bodyguards may enter if Ersolan wishes, but they will accomplish nothing because I must speak to Ersolan alone. If there is no opportunity for that, then I will not hand over command of a single soldier to him. For all I know, he might be your prisoner."
