(OOC: Hey, sorry for the inactivity)
Ulor Nashlan summons his advisor, Gefanin. "What news? Have we heard any more from the capital?"
"I don't know when we are next due to send our taxes to Zekran, by the way, but I would prefer to hold off on that for now, given the current circumstances."

On the Road Salan Nassavix
Oron 7, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
Javaan and the ten guards reach a settlement on the third day. It is very small, with fewer than a hundred inhabitants. The people there are shorter than the people of the North and the East. Their buildings are all round, which is rare in most places, but there are many like that in Nassavix.
Javaan is surprised to find that none of the people in the town speak any language he knows.
None of the guards with him speak the language of the local people, either. One of the guards says they are obviously of the tribe of the "Round House People".
The leader of the guards says to Javaan, "If we continue to march south for another day, we won't have enough food for the whole trip back. I suggest that we turn back now. The Ulor asked for a survey of settlements, defenses and roads. We've seen enough to give a report. The roads are in bad shape, the defenses are nonexistent and there is only this one small fishing village of Round House People in three days of walking."

(OOC: Naasha, we're sorry for not posting more about Javaan's journey sooner. You could play at least as far as the 15th day of the 1st month, by which time you'll have news of all sorts of events in the North Peninsula. In the meantime, on the 7th day, Gefanin will have virtually no news for you. Get Javaan to finish his trip and let time go by and then Ulor Nashlan will have heard the news of Krulmuk attacking Shalimuk and marching on Yishil as well as the news that the Aat clan chiefs at their gathering in Aatan decided to go to war against the Empire.)
Starmet Uloresh (Ulor's Palace) Nassavix, Salan Nassavix
Oron 7, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
Gefanin says, "The news is that Prince Levorek has been voted Imperial Regent by the Imperial Council. There is further news that Field Marshall Krulmuk is supporting him so it seems that Levorek has the support of the army. Other than that, there is not much news. We still hear reports of fighting at Angenmar Paven, but no word of victory for either side."

(OOC: Oh, there's also going to be news from Trayavix by then. Stay active, your part of the world has been quiet for a while, but that may be coming to an end.)

Javaan replies "I think we have seen all there is to see. Let us turn back and return to Ulor Nashlan with our report. I just hope we haven't missed something crucial."

The guards agree and Javaan and the others turn back.
Three days on the trail pass quickly and soon they are back at the city of Nassavix where Javaan can report his findings to the Ulor.

"Good, I will speak with him momentarily. How are you finding your role of advisor by the way? I should like to hear your input more often in the future, your words have been wise and sensible so far."

Gefanin says, "So far I have found it to my liking. Since you ask for my advice, I will tell you my first thoughts now that I've had a chance to get accustomed to the role. I think your move of sending an expedition to survey the south coast was a good one. More of that sort of thing would probably be good. We are not like most provinces. We are practically on the frontier here. There's a joke you may not have heard that this province is called Nassavix because the city of Nassavix is all that is really under imperial control. There is a grain of truth in that. Your rule does go far beyond the city, but the provincial government has in the past been unaware and uninvolved in what goes on in most of the province. Then again, so long as they pay their taxes, perhaps it is for the best."

Starmet Uloresh (Ulor's Palace) Nassavix, Salan Nassavix
Oron 18, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
Gefanin comes to meet with Ulor Nashlan, "Your excellency, in the last few days, we have received the most alarming news from all over the empire."
"What is it?" Nashlan asked.
"I hardly know where to begin. Of course, you've heard the news of the battle at Angenmar Paven. Our own 3rd Kantora Nassavix participated in the battle on the winning side. The 3rd Kantora is now on its way to Yishil where there is expected to soon be an even larger battle that may decide the fate of the empire. The Regent Rubanya has made Yishil his temporary capital. Field Marshall Krulmuk himself is leading the attacking force. Krulmuk has already attacked Prince Shalimuk and tried to kill or capture him at Kast Yvar where Prince Shalimuk was recently appointed Ulor by the Regent Rubanya Cledman who is Shalimuk's grandfather."
"We have also heard that there has been a mutiny of the Imperial Army garrison at Trayavix, just up the coast from us. A whole kantora of troops stormed the Ulor's palace one morning and tried to kill him, but he escaped. Ulor Tervin is in control and has had troops loyal to him arrest the mutineers, take over the Imperial Army Regional Headquarters and even had the regional commander, Captain General Trenyva, killed. The regional headquarters was for the whole North River Region. Oddly enough, though our province is right next to Trayavix, we are not part of the North River Region. We are part of the Far West Region."
"Other soldiers from Trayavix are serving with our men in the North Peninsula and we have to wonder if their loyalty may also be suspect."
"We have heard repeated reports that Ulor Tervin of Trayavix is sympathetic to the regionalist faction and there are indications that he may try to assert power over the entire region. Ulor Landyva of Foerfen province is said to be sympathetic to this idea."
"Ulor Yandimuk of Baaniferan Province has long been a bitter enemy of Ulor Tervin. Yandimuk is a member of the so-called Loyalist faction and has recently issued proclamations recognizing Levorek as regent of the empire. We have reports that Ulor Yandimuk and his garrison commander have taken steps to prepare for battle, possibly against the men loyal to Ulor Tervin in Trayavix province."
"In Shasa Falan province, Ulor Yavuk Vergriman seems to have completely neglected his duties and the province is almost leaderless in this crisis. In Glantogran province, the Ulor resigned and has not been replaced. As you know, the provinces of Aatan and Helmarie have declared independence. That brings me to the most alarming news of all that just came in this afternoon. We have heard that on Oronoran (Winter's Day, the Winter Solstice, eighteen days ago) the clan chiefs of the Aat people in Aatan met in the mountains and decided to go to war against the Empire. We have also heard that a similar meeting of Trond chieftains has been called by Ulor Esinie of Helmarie. Today we learn that without waiting for the chieftains to meet, Ulor Esinie has marched with an army into Glantogran province and laid seige to the garrison fortress in the provincial capital."
