Ulor Argif says, "Yes, I do know Ulor Worfen of Vibika Ashak. I know him quite well. He's a former army officer. He used to command the 2nd Kantora Foerfen back in his home province years ago. Then he left the army and served as an advisor to Ulor Landyva of Foerfen. Then he had a falling out with Landyva and served as captain of the guard at Nassavix under Ulor Darimuk, then at Bakoy Folon in Olalga Vyex under Ulor Toryva and finally at Nassalga in Vibika Ashak under Ulor Verif who was a close friend of mine. There was a bit of a political thing and Verif resigned. Worfen took control of Nassalga using just the Rizado Uloresh. Then he was appointed Ulor of Vibika Ashak. He didn't attend the meeting here because he opposes us regionalists, or probably me in particular because I was close to Verif and Worfen ended up opposed to Verif. That was years ago, I have urged Worfen to let bygones be bygones, but as you see, he didn't come to the conference."

Very interesting, you seem quite on top of regional concerns. Anyway, I must return to camp and oversee the transport across the river.

Thank you for saying so, but I'm not as on top of regional matters as that might make it appear. I happen to be much more familiar with Vibika Ashak province than most of them because it borders mine and also because Ulor Verif was a close friend of mine. I used to visit him often in Nassalga. Now I visit him here in town. He moved back here after he resigned.
Well, I'll let you go now to attend to your soldiers. I will have ships go pick them up and bring them across the river. As soon as we have enough ships to bring them across the sea, I shall arrange that also. Farewell.

Encampment of the 3rd Kantora Kopixer Outskirts of Osim Salan Zamarula
Oron 8, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
(The 3rd Kantora Kopixer was transported across the Snake River to Osim and has been camped there for five days. During this time, Ulor Nemt and his officers have had a chance to see the city of Osim and experience first hand some of the exotic customs and sights of the Far West.)
Lanimuk, advisor to Ulor Argif of Zamarula comes to the camp to meet with Ulor Nemt.
Lanimuk says, "Your Excellency, we have assembled a dozen ships for the transport of your men. We have enough now so that all your men can sail together. They are ready to sail today if your men are ready. What destination shall I tell them to sail for? Is it Zekran?"

Yes, we will sail for Zekran - and depart as soon as all preparations are complete.

Lanimuk departs for the docks. Ulor Nemt orders Ekanor Arno and Ekanor Garon to prepare the kantora for departure.
The two ekanoro announce the departure to the men. Soon blankets are being rolled up and gear is being collected. In minutes, the kantora is ready to go. A headcount is made and it is discovered that four men are missing. Ekanor Garon dispatches three runners to the various parts of town where the men have been known to go when permitted to do so. It is unclear whether they had permission to leave camp or not.
The rest of the kantora marches to the port. More than a dozen children run alongside the soldiers. They have been hanging around the camp the last few days, begging. The soldiers have been eating much better food in Osim than before, thanks to the generosity of Ulor Argif and they had plenty to spare. The street urchin children are sad to see this boon come to an end, but excited by the spectacle of the soldiers on the move and soon to board ships and sail away.
The soldiers reach the port and Lanimuk is there. He points out to Ulor Nemt and his officers which ships are available to transport the kantora and introduces Ulor Nemt to the master of each of the twelve ships. Some of the ships are small, some are large, but together, they are large enough.
Lanimuk suggests that Ulor Nemt sail on the largest of the ships, a vessel known as the "Shoolen Divi". The ship's master is a short man named Srenger who speaks Zekresh, but with a thick accent and terrible grammar. His vessel can hold about 160 soldiers. Unlike the navy ships Nemt had arrived on, this vessel has no oars. It depends upon sail power alone, but the sail on its single mast is larger than on naval vessels and unlike them, it also has another small sail in the front. As the soldiers are loading up, one of the runners Ekanor Garon sent out returns with three out of four of the missing men.
The fourth man and the other two runners have not returned. Two girls from a brothel in the old part of the city show up to watch and wave goodbye to the soldiers. A small crowd gathers as various people come to say goodbye.
Lanimuk apologizes that Ulor Argif could not be present, but tells Ulor Nemt that Ulor Argif has commanded that the ships be loaded with enough food to feed the entire 3rd Kantora Zekresh for the duration of the journey. Some of Argif's servants are there with wagonloads of food of various kinds. On Lanimuk's command, they begin loading it onto the ships.
During this process, the second runner returns with the last missing man, but the third runner is still not back.
It takes hours to load all the food aboard ship. Eventually, around noon, the ships are ready to depart. The third runner finally returns and reports, sadly, that he could not find any of the missing men. He is informed that they all have been found. Now all men are accounted for and aboard ship.
Ulor Nemt himself boards the "Shoolen Divi" and Srenger says, "Ready now. We sail." Then, Srenger gives orders to his crew in some other language. Most of the sailors are very short. The little men unfurl the sails, cast off the mooring lines and the "Shoolen Divi" drifts out to sea. Some of the other vessels are galleys and the sound of drums beating a rythm for the men to row to can be heard. Others are like this one, powered by sails only.
The "Shoolen Divi" is relatively large for a civilian ship and seems to be of frail construction, but it glides ahead of the rest of the fleet with ease and leads the way out to sea. Soon, the ships have sailed out of sight of land. The sailors do not remark upon this and seem to have no fear of the legendary dangers of the open sea.
Ulor Nemt stands at the bow of the ship, glad to finally be underway. Looking ahead, he sees only the sea, but he wonders what will await him and his men when they arrive back in Zekran. It also occurs to him to wonder if the navy will try to prevent him from getting there.

(OOC: Very well done - was it not Imperial Navy policy to always sail within sight of land?)

(OOC: Your character does not know whether it is navy policy, but Ekanor Falan Otunuk insisted on staying within sight of land. I figured you'd notice that these guys don't.)

(OOC: Definitely, I had planned to ask the captains if they could sail a direct route if they had initially wanted to stay within sight of land.)

Aboard the ship "Shoolen Divi" In the Lish Folonesh (Western Sea) second day out from the port of Osim
Oron 9, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
On the morning of the second day at sea, there is no land in sight in any direction. Some of the soldiers are nervous. Nemt is on deck watching the sea with little to do.
Srenger, the ship's master, comes over to Nemt and says, "Wind keep up like this, we at Glivo Trayakir - one velasik." He smiles, "If not sea serpents along our way."

Srenger says, "Like the bird. Divi. How you say... I don't know. She is Divi at sea, so Shoolen Divi I name her."
Then another sailor calls out to Srenger in his own language and Srenger has to go attend to something.

Aboard the ship "Shoolen Divi" In the Lish Folonesh (Western Sea) fourth day out from the port of Osim
Oron 11, Salgan 1, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
On the fourth day at sea, there is still no land in sight in any direction. Some of the soldiers are afraid and rumors are flying amongst them that the ship is lost. Nemt finds himself pacing the deck and watching the sea with little to do. He worries about the morale of the troops and does his best to reassure them, but he worries even more about the ones on the other ships that he can't talk to.
He has plenty of time to reflect on many things. Above all he notices just how immense the sea and the sky are. It is a perspective you can't quite get while sailing within sight of land.
