Seems like a good way to organize information on places, people, events etc. in the game world.

Funny you should mention that we were just thinking about that but we dont know enough wiki's do you?

I don't know anything about maintaining one from an administrative standpoint.

I do. If you can get one I can overlook it. I have picked up some pointers from people who run a wiki for another game I play.

I am under the impression that they are easy to set up, but I don't know how and we have so much other stuff to work on that this will be a low priority if the gamemasters do it.
Players could set one up. The thing about a wiki is that it is supposed to be a tool that allows the users to make entries. That's one of its main advantages and the advantage is lost if only gamemasters can edit it.
We are also concerned that a wiki is so efficient at providing information that it might be unrealistic for players to have that much information so easily available when their characters have no such resource.
On the other hand, a wiki run by players with little or no assurance by gamemasters that the info is accurate might be a better way to simulate information that is "common knowledge" but might or might not be correct.
Gamemasters might also make entries in the wiki or correct grievous errors in it that come to our attention.
We would certainly award a lot of karma points to anyone who sets one up.

I am planning on having one set up by tomorrow. It depends on what I can figure out tonight though.

Awesome. That is really great.
I'm not sure how many karma points that's worth, but certainly a lot. Since you're planning to do more work on it, I'll hold off on coming up with a number of karma points for now.
Thank you.

Update on the Wiki: Most of the information on your blogspot page is now on the Wiki and I am going to soon be putting together things like Common Phrases in the languages (I would love help from you guys on this) and go on to rumors and things. I am starting to run out of ideas for what to put up at the moment. I will let the gamemasters decide if they want to publicly post the password required to edit the pages or if only a few people can edit it (which sorta defeats the purpose of a wiki). Either way I will continue to monitor the site acting as an editor and such making sure the information is only as accurate as the players know which may mean fixing mistakes or fixing things that are true but most people don't know.

I think it would be appropriate for the password to be publicly available or for no password to be required. As you say, restricting editing of a wiki is not a good idea.

The site requires a password for editing. By anymeans its Zekran.

For coming up with the idea of a wiki for the game, Nemt has been given 50 karma points. It was a good idea, but it is a lot easier to come up with ideas than to put them into practice. For actually creating the wiki, Kortelan has been given 1,000 karma points.
Thanks guys. By the way, significant useful additions to the wiki may also be rewarded with karma points.

I am adding slowly to the wiki and looking at the table of contents right now I think I will have to think about reorganizing it soon. I think I will create pages like History and Current Events and following the example I would put Library of Scrolls, Kortelan's Scrolls, and News into that linking to each from that page and have an overview of what is on each one. I think I will start doing that when we have 20 pages excluding the front page, right now we have 12. Anyways does anyone have any ideas for what groupings I should make?
Also Gamemasters can I get a map of the Empire with the names and numbers to replace the first map of the Empire? Or maybe a list of all the names next to their numbers.

Is this map what you're looking for? nationsandempires5.blogspot.com/2007/01/provinces-click-to-enlarge.htmlYou will notice that on the map each province is numbered. Below the map is a list of the numbers with the name of each province and other information about the province. Unfortunately the formatting on this list has been messed up yet again, but you can still make out what it says. Note that some province names are links to province profile pages.

I would prefer one with the name and number on the map itself but if you don't have one of those then I guess I can see if I can fit it in.
