Nemt salutes and leaves to inform the kantora commanders of the departure, and begins the march to Verronia if nothing else comes up.

"Princess, you do not have the authority to make demands of the Imperial Army. As it is, however, the two kantoro Tanan are not part of my expedition at the moment, and are awaiting orders from Gurikan Falan Talimuk. Any complaints should be directed towards him. Now, I'm quite busy already."
Nemt leaves to continue preparing the troops for travel to Verronia.

Slythia Province Zekresh Empire
9th day, 2nd month, 41 Cledman VI
Nemt finally gets the troops moving. They proceed to march west along the coast road. The weather is dreary, cold and for two days it rains. The troops are "foraging" for food by confiscating it from nearby farms and villages. The huge number of troops is imposing a serious burden on the local population. There has been some actual resistance by a few farmers, but no soldiers were wounded.
Today the rain has stopped. Nemt estimates that the expedition has now covered about 300 talong and is still in Slythia Province.
In the early afternoon, a well dressed man escorted by a small force of armed men on horseback passes along the column, heading west. He looks like some sort of Imperial official. He passes out of sight of Nemt, still riding in the direction of the head of the column. Nemt is not currently at the head of the column. He is back with the 5th Kantora Grigna Zarula which is marching too slowly to keep up with the units ahead of it.

(OOC: Nemt, don't miss the posts above this one)
Shortly after the conversation with Nemt, Princess Evanit will be informed by Gurikan Falan Talimuk that the 1st Kantora Tanan is to be sent to the overseas provinces to fight barbarians, but the 2nd Kantora Tanan has now been given orders to return to Tanan.
Later that same day, an imperial courier finds Princess Evanit and gives her the following message which bears the seal of the Imperial Chancellor:
Oron 3, Salgan 2, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
Naltor Evanit Cledman, Dearest Granddaughter:
You have done far better as an Ulor than anyone expected. For that reason, and due to the need to replace quite a few uloro of questionable loyalty, I am proud to say that the time has come to entrust you with the governing of a more important province. You are hereby removed from the office of Ulor of Tanan and hereby appointed Ulor of Kajakan Folon. Your steadfast leadership in the crisis at Angenmar Paven has earned you that. Proceed at once to Angenmar Paven and take control of the provincial government there.
(OOC: you may post in the Angenmar Paven thread.)

Nass Mysktia Province Zekresh Empire
Oron 11, Salgan 2, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
After two more days on the march, Nemt discovers that he has entered Nass Mysktia province. While Nemt is marching, an imperial courier from the east catches up to him bearing a message from Talimuk.
It says:
Ekanor Falan Nemt, I have returned to Zekran and was surprised to find that the 3rd Kantora Zekresh is still here. They have been assigned to your expedition. The good news is that it will be easy to find ships to transport them as far as Yishil because that is where I am sending all ships we can get ahold of to pick up troops for Krulmuk and take them overseas. I will go ahead and issue orders sending the 3rd Zekresh to Yishil and placing them under the authority of the garrison commander of Slythia, Ekanor Falan Gevan, until they receive further orders from you.

Embarrassed, Nemt sends word back to Yishil for the 3rd Kantora Zekresh to meet the main force in Verronia. "We would've likely been waiting there a while anyway" Nemt thinks to himself in consolation.

The expedition continues to march along.
(OOC: Sorry for the delays, but you're heading for Verronia and Kortelan is there. I need to make sure the dates match up so you guys are both on the same date when your troops arrive.)

Before I go to Angenmar Paven, I ask Ekanor Falan Dulimuk to come with me.
OOC I didn't get an answer to my questions on game updates so I'm reposting them here:
How long will it take for me to get to Angenmar Paven? Can I go by ship?
Can I take Dulimuk with me to command the troops there?

Before I go to Angenmar Paven, I ask Ekanor Falan Dulimuk to come with me. OOC I didn't get an answer to my questions on game updates so I'm reposting them here: How long will it take for me to get to Angenmar Paven? Can I go by ship? Can I take Dulimuk with me to command the troops there? Sorry I didn't respond to the post in game updates. To travel from Yishil to Angenmar Paven would take about six days by horse and a little over four days by ship. There are no ships available from Yishil. The army has commandeered all of them as troop transports. Dulimuk says he would like to go with you, but has to have orders from his superiors. He thinks Gurikan Falan Talimuk would be the one to ask. He goes and asks. He reports back to you that he got very lucky. The garrison commander of Kajakan Folon just requested a transfer. His name was Ekanor Falan An Op and he apparently wanted to go on the northern expedition but was turned down. That decision has been reversed and An Op will go on the northern expedition and Ekanor Falan Dulimuk has now been appointed garrison commander of Kajakan Folon and will be going with you. (OOC: That should answer your questions. Your next post should be in the Angenmar Paven thread. You will have to go there by horse. Your involvement in this has delayed your departure until the 12th day of the 2nd month. You should arrive in six days on the 18th day of the 2nd month. You will pass through Verronia on the 16th.)

Nass Mysktia Province Zekresh Empire
Oron 13, Salgan 2, Adonsik 41 Vylor Cledman VI
The expedition continues to march along. Nemt finds the task of keeping so many thousands of troops (at least 6,000) organized to be very difficult. It is impossible to see what even half of them are doing at a glance. The column of marching men reaches as far as the eye can see in both directions, even in open country. Finding places for them to camp is a challenge and they end up camping in farmers' fields (which are all fallow at the moment.) Keeping them fed is the hardest of all and there are now clear signs that word of their approach has led farmers in the route of march to move their food supplies out of harm's way to secret locations.
Nemt becomes aware that these same farmers were just pillaged by the horde of Verronese troops led by An Op who marched through here only a matter of days earlier on their way to Yishil. Now this army, including some of the same Verronese troops, is coming back along the same road.
This is making it difficult to keep the troops fed. Some units are skipping meals because they just don't have any food to give the men. That's not helping morale.
Meanwhile, farmers on horseback are monitoring the march of the army and riding ahead, perhaps to coordinate further efforts to hide food supplies.
On this day, a message arrives via Imperial courier for Nemt from Ekanor Falan Gevan in Yishil saying that three more kantoro assigned to Nemt's expedition have arrived in Yishil and that Gevan has ordered them to march to Verronia. The three kantoro are the 1st Kantora Groglinth, the 1st Kantora Kikalan Tros and the 6th Kantora Kikalan Tros.
Another message arrives the same day from Gurikan Gamuk in Zekran, commander of the 1st Kantora Sishan. He reminds Nemt that Nemt agreed that Gamuk and his men could join the expedition. Gamuk writes that the 3rd Kantora Zekresh has already boarded ships and left Zekran to join the expedition while the 1st Kantora Sishan still has orders to remain in Zekran until further notice. Gamuk writes, "I implore you not to leave us behind. We want to see action and prove ourselves in battle."

Nemt responds to Gamuk, explaining the hassle and confusion of the expedition so far, and telling him to take his kantora and make haste to Verronia.

Nemt's expeditionary force crosses another provincial boundary and enters Kajakan Yost Province.
Food shortages and confiscations of supplies from local farmers continue.

A lone horseman overtakes the column from behind and seeks out Nemt. Nemt immediately recognizes him. It is Ekanor Falan An Op.
An Op says with a smile, "The old man let me come to your war after all, I rode out from Yishil before the ink was dry on my orders."
An Op hands a scroll to Nemt. It bears the seal of Gurikan Falan Talimuk. It removes An Op as garrison commander of Kajakan Folon, appoints him garrison commander of Glantogran province and assigns him to the North River Expedition under Nemt's command.
