Altook says, "What do you mean serve in the imperial army again? Were you a soldier?"

"I was pressed into service at Crooked Creek. I never had real training, weapons or armor but they said I was part of the army and it was beyond my choice either way."

Altook says, "I see. Well I'm not too worried about the Ralban. We're in Tresh territory and Tresh warriors are keeping a close watch to make sure the Ralban don't come into their territory. The Ralban would have to pass through many talong of Tresh territory to get here. As for the empire, they would have to pass through all the territory the Ralban have invaded and probably fight every Ralban warrior there is. Considering how they've been doing against the Ralban so far, I ain't worried. You seem to be worried a lot about it. Or maybe you just have an idea on what to do about it. Is that it?"

"Well I have heard stories of Krumluk the leader of the Imperial Army and how he was one of the best fighters against barbarians ever and how as soon as he can he will come here with several of the most elite battalions of the Imperial Army. That worries me a bit. As for an idea if we have a blacksmith and access to metal we could make our own army and train them in formations and battle tactics so we will have a small but highly trained and well equipped force if anything should happen. Maybe we should also build a wall around your lands and another one around the town itself to help, we would have been able to hold out at Crooked Creek if we had finished the wall. What do you say?"

Altook sighs and says, "Yeah, I already thought of having an army for Yostan. We had two imperial soldiers here a couple days ago. One was named Ganigan. I offered him a chance to be in command of the Yostan Army since he was the only soldier we had. He said he wanted to think about it. Then another imperial soldier showed up named Stevanuk. I made him commander of the Yostan Army and it seemed like he would make things happen. That he did, he got me to make Ganigan the head of the Yostan Navy and they stole my boat and left in the middle of the night. He already knew Ganigan from... from Crooked Creek. Heyyyy, you don't know those guys do you?"
(OOC: Trafanin definitely will remember Ganigan from Crooked Creek. He was always serious and did not like your separatist ideas at all. But he talked to you more than any of the other soldiers. You also met Stevanuk, but didn't get to know him. He was memorable because he was always making jokes. You also met Ekanor Konigak, Havuk, Garoman and Yatya, plus many others who were there. There are two people here from Crooked Creek, Sharnyva and the little girl. Sharnyva will look familiar to you, but you don't know him. The little girl you don't remember at all. Of course you also know Tever and his family plus some of the other farmers.)

"Yes I knew both of them. Ganigan and I were sort of friends although he did not like the fact that I didn't like the Empire. There is no way he would have ever been a serious commander of your army. I also met Stevanuk he was all jokes and as far as I know he has never said a serious thing in his life. They took you as a fool from the start. Its sad that you ever trusted them, but I don't blame you."

Altook says, "As for your other ideas, building a wall is a huge amount of work and we'll have our hands full just trying to keep all the new people fed until next harvest. It would be good, to have though. Maybe next year. I really do think the Tresh will keep them off us that long. What else were you saying? A blacksmith? We don't have one. An army? You're the only soldier here now that the other two have run off and I'm not sure you count as a real soldier."

"Well its true I am not a real soldier but we can teach ourselves how to fight. How to march and maybe even how to fight in a way to beat the barbarian horde. Maybe you can talk to the Tresh about teaching us how and supplying us? As for people why not ask for people who are willing to defend this patch of land? I am rather sick of running maybe others are too."

"I know we don't. We never will but maybe if they come here we can have such a strong hold here that we can get them to leave us alone or give the Tresh time to regroup. If we can push them off and show them that if they want what we have they are going to be in for a large fight then maybe they will leave us alone, because why go after a town like this when you can go for so many other towns without the fight?"

"I think first you should to the Tresh and start talking about getting weapons and armor. Maybe also see if they would be willing to give us timbers for a wall and some people to help us build it. Then we should start seeing how many people are willing to fight for this land. That is the important thing, get people who want to do this they will fight harder. And I don't know about you but I don't see any reason why a woman if properly trained would fight any worse then a man."

Altook laughs, "Very ambitious, but not practical. I doubt very much that women will fight as well as men, but if the Ralban attack, everyone should fight. As for the Tresh, I am friendly with them, but not so much that they will give me weapons or help build things here. Also, I don't think they have armor. We probably could not get them to help build anything, but we might be able to trade for weapons. We would have to offer them something in exchange that they would want."

"Ok. Well I don't want to tax the resources here too much considering I am new here and all, but if they come here it will be hard fighting. As for women fighting they may fight as well as men they might fight worse for all I know they could fight better. I don't know but we know no matter what it is they can carry weapons and can fight and being able to fight is better then having people who can and want to and not letting them."

Altook says, "Yes, I said everyone should fight. I think, though, that I shall not repeat my mistake by appointing a commander of the Yostan Army. I see now that I must command it myself. At some point I may appoint officers whom I trust. Perhaps Quagganuk will be our first officer or Sarman. I shall ask them if they are willing and I will tell them you are eager to be a soldier with us. I am not sure where we will come by weapons. I can't think of anything we have that the Tresh want. But I saw that you had only a stick for a weapon when you came here. Is that what they gave you to fight with at Crooked Creek?"
