"Yes that is what they gave me. I would be surprised if you can kill anything, let alone a human, with this."

Altook says, "It's better than nothing. But whether we use that or something else, it would be good to think about what weapons we can make ourselves. I doubt we can get more weapons any other way."

"I understand. Will you have someone show me around the area? I want to get a feel for the land. As far as I have seen they take the easiest way and I want to try to figure that out."

Gilit is hanging around nearby, having nothing to do.

Altook says, "Gilit, you're new here, but you've seen the place already. Do you think you could show Trafanin around the settlement?"
(OOC: check your private messages for info about what your character knows about the settlement. Also, please create a new login with "Gilit" as the character name. Evanit is far from here.)

Gilit says, "Sure. I don't have much to do."
Gilit looks at the boy and notices that he is cute, but ten or more years younger than she is.
As Gilit leads Trafanin around the settlement, she points out what little there is to see.
"The settlement is just three houses along a creek. They call it Shasy Yostan. That means Eastland Creek. One house belongs to Altook, one to his brother Quagganuk and one to their friend Sarman. There are fields all around and beyond that is the forest. The creek flows from the southeast to the northwest. The houses are all on the south side of the creek. The creek flows into the Biting Fish River not too far away. The river flows approximately east to west."
"That's about all there is to it," Gilit says.

Trafanin follows Gilit around. "Really? There isn't much here. Where do the refugees stay? Also how much of this land is owned by Atook?"

Altook owns more than the others, I think, but not a huge amount. I know that field across the creek is his, but I'm not sure who owns what of the other fields. I think it's mostly the fields near each house are owned by the person in the house.
As for us refugees, Marganit and I have been staying with Quagganuk, sleeping on the floor in his house. They gave us blankets. The little girl, Terivanit, stays with Sarman. You and Yokh were sleeping on the floor at Altook's right?

"Yeah it was something like that. I just wondered if there was a house or something for us. There should be, we should make a large house with separate rooms that have a lot of beds to fit any refugee that makes it into Tresh lands. There are a lot of people still alive, there has to be. We can't be the only people from the Empire left alive in this forsaken land."

That sounds like a pretty fancy house. It would be wonderful to have, but who knows how to build something like that? I'n not against the idea of a house. Lets do it if we can.

There are lots of other refugees. When I was at Gamukan, it was overcrowded with refugees and more were arriving all the time.

"I wouldn't know where to begin. I am, or rather was just a simple boy before this whole ordeal. I mean I always knew something like this could happen but who would have ever thought that it would happen? But now we are cut off from the Empire and we can rule ourselves. We can be the people we always wanted to be with the laws that we wanted to have. Us refugees need to stick together. In fact we should all get together and make sure we all have a fair say in what happens here."

Meanwhile, in the woods nearby, Balek stumbles along, following the river as he has for many miles, day after day. His brother Razamuk is with him. Suddenly Razamuk sees three farm houses in the distance. He also sees a woman and a young man standing around talking.

Razamuk crouched low as he looked at the farmhouses, odds were that the inhabitants were harmless farmers but with what had happened so recently chances were not something to take without reason.
Still, both Razamuk and his brother were hungry and with the wounds taken Balek might very well die without treatment and a place to regain his strength, so after long minutes of considering his options Razamuk stood and hailed the two figures.
"Greetings!" Razamuk called as he stepped from the woods with his hands held high, to show he had no weapon and meant no harm.
