If you want to play this game, post here. It is not necessary to register or login, you can post as a "guest". It will probably take a day or two for a response. The response will be posted here unless you provide an e-mail address in which case it will be e-mailed to you.

I was referred to this site by this message: [glow=red,2,300]I saw your comments about realism on one of the forum discussions. Because of that, I would like to invite you to join an RP where realism is taken seriously. You can play as a political leader or as an individual adventurer or as some other role. It is currently low tech, but the technology level is expected to increase over the course of the game to modern tech and beyond. This game has been going for months and has attracted seventeen players. Nine players are currently active. Would you like to try it? Here is the main forum for it: www.naegame.proboards83.com/Here is the main page with the background info: nationsandempires1.blogspot.com/ [/glow] Having seen this site - a Roman-style? - I would like to join up to this RP. You can email me at the following address: alekios@gmail.com I will likely try to make out with a different name than my NS name, but I've read through much of the rules and despite my true desires, I won't make any history until it's been decided.

You might want to disable HTML on the forums and just stick with board code. You don't want a whole bunch of security issues.

Nemt, I'm not sure what you mean by that. Could you please clarify?

A lot of security concerns on scripted sites (like message boards) open up when users can post relatively unrestricted HTML code. Since this board is hosted by another site, maybe you don't have control over this, or maybe they have some kind of enhanced security in place.

I'm not sure whether I was supposed to post in this thread or just in this specific forum, sorry.

No problem, hello and welcome to the game! You might want to check out the introductions thread on the general board and say hi to everyone there.
A gamemaster will probably respond shortly and get you started in the game, it might be helpful to them if you provided them with an email address so that they can get in contact with you more easily.
I hope you enjoy your stay!

Hello,
Welcome to the game, Shravila. And thank you, Nashlan for the welcome you provided. It is true that it helps if we have an e-mail address for each new player, but please note that Shravila is logged in as a registered member, not as a guest. To do that, you must provide an e-mail address. Shravila has chosen not to display that address to the public (a wise move to prevent the address being hit by spammers), but it is still accessible by the gamemasters so we already have Shravila's e-mail address.
In the future, anyone who shows up who has "new member" under their name instead of "guest" has already provided us an e-mail address and proven that it is really theirs by providing an account activation code sent to that address.
Nonetheless, we don't mind players welcoming new players in the general message area as Nashlan did.
Shravila, what sort of character do you want to play?
You can respond here or via e-mail to nationsandempires@yahoo.com
We can assign you one if you're not sure.

In case any other new players are confused, yes, this is the forum and the thread to post a message announcing your presence here.
Go ahead.
But you don't have to post here. If you have already contacted us via e-mail, we will probably respond by e-mail in a day or two and it will not be necessary to post here.
We've got six new players so far this week and most of them contacted us directly by e-mail or other means (telegrams in the Nation States game). It doesn't really matter how you contact us as long as it works.

Am I doing this right? I posted some dialogue for the other characters I'm talking to, but I didn't have them say anything important. I had to leave the conversation unfinished because Korinyva needs to respond to what I'm saying and I don't want to make the decision for him.

i too was refered by zerkesh as he/they are known on nation states where i play cameroi.
who also suggested a number of options i might be able to roll play that would possibly hold my interests. one of which being perhaps a tribal elder of a people, without formalized standing hierarchy and well beyond the fringes of empire but with interesting potential possibilities.
formalized hierarchies being by no means the only mode conceivable for social organization.

Hi.
Somebody on NationStates named Nartenia told me about this game. It looks very interesting. Can I play?
Also, can I play as a national leader and if so, can my country be the same as my NationStates nation which is called Stendaria?

Thank you Nemt for that collection of links.
Jake,
Welcome to Nations and Empires!
On the one hand, we'd love to have people be able to play as leaders of their nations from the NationStates game. On the other hand, we have an extremely high standard of realism here which can't easily be reconciled with nations from Nation States. The main problems are that almost all Nation States nations have technology levels at around what we have on Earth in real life. In Nations and Empires, the entire "known world" in which the players are playing is basically low tech.
Also, all the nations in the world, even outside the "known world" have to some extent already been developed with their own culture, languages and histories. We can't just add a new country that didn't exist and doesn't fit with what's already here.
Yet another problem with that idea is that we have decided that we should stop giving new players control of countries with perhaps a few exceptions. The reason for this is that it takes work for us to help get such a character started and most of the people we do that work for don't actually play or they drop out almost right away.
We'd prefer you take a character who is more simple at first and then, if you like, you can change characters.
Let's discuss this issue furhter via "telegrams" in the Nation States game. Send your telegrams to the "Empire of Zekresh" not the person who told you about this game.
